BBM in London Riot, the Most Effective Tool to Gather the Crowds?

Sadly, that was people are hearing now. London is the real proof how strong a social media is, and how its supporting devices can be a functional device to influence people's way of thinking and acting. We don't need a megaphone or a giant microphone to gather crowds; it's enough to spread your provocative messages to all of your friends and networks. London riot is coordinated through social media, as said police officers.

Mark Duggan is the "trigger" of the case. Facebook is the place to soar the protests. And, we all see within five hours people are everywhere on the Tottenham High Road. The authority knows social media sites can be a strong media of provoking things. In very few hours, people in London couldn't use it as a target of showing their anger off, or as a tool of gathering the mass. The same thing does happen to Twitter users because anything they wrote can be detected by police. Any event was easily scattered as a result.

The story goes differently with BBM. BBM offers a more concealed mass movement. BlackBerry users know well how it works, thus understanding how the movement organized is easy. When one BBM broadcast sent demanding everyone from all sides of London meet up at the central of London to make a riot and come get free stuff, all BlackBerry owners understand what to do. And, you know the impact if one BlackBerry owners invite all of his or her friends coming to the "party." The real riot had come!

Do you think what RIM should do?
