Find the BART Initiator(s)

Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) intention to protect commuters was regarded as an overreaction by a group of hackers. It came to a protest since BART was considered to break First Amendment free speech rights by cutting wireless connection in the San Francisco-area transit system. The group then hacked into BART police union website and leaked passwords, e-mail and home addresses.

What makes the case seem awkward is that it is actually rooted from incident. A BART police officer was said to shot a young man with no clear reason. The clash get hotter as the July 11 event was also put into the case as a reason why those people should protest BART. CNet cited from a letter that a man wanted to attack BART officers with a knife. Such an action became an alibi for the officer to defend that they were not to blame. Moreover, some persons made a riot by blocking train doorways and holding them to make the doorways remain open. One person was even reported to climb on top of a train. The chaos was happening during the peak of rush hour so passengers were bothered to move between stations.

There is no other way to overcome this problem but encounter both parties head to head. A stranger was initiated to hold a meeting between the protesters and BART but he/she was reluctant to reveal his/her true identity since the invitation was only in a letter. Nevertheless, it might be just a trap.

Therefore, BART has to take a serious action since they are the target of hacking. They must find person(s) who provoke that bunch of protesters. It is possible there is conspiracy behind the incident.

If needed, the officers and/or protesters should hire detective or telecommunication expert to help them. The detective or expert may become good mediators to know who actually play main role in the clash.
